A hope chest is an immeasurable investment into the life of a daughter or wife. It preserves the treasures of her past, and crafts the purpose of her future. It is both the realization of hope-fulfilled and the anticipation of hope-yet-desired.
With its importance in mind, we build our hope chests with individually selected boards of locally milled Eastern Red Cedar. Not only is this knotty red wood an eye-catcher with a pleasant aroma, but the cedar oil extract of the Juniperus species is a natural guard against clothes moths.
We offer our hope chests in various sizes, and with several options. You may choose to include a letter tray to protect correspondence or other small delicacies. Perhaps you desire a lock and key to keep young hands out of where they do not belong. A zero-clearance hinge allows the hope chest to be placed against a wall or other fine furniture. Adding hidden casters makes the chest easier to move, when needed.
We do not finish the wood of the completed hope chest with a lacquer or stain which could yellow and dull. In order to bring out the richness of this deep red wood, we coat the outside of the hope chest with furniture oil as needed.
